About my Start-up

Hempstatic is a Viennese start-up producing renewable insulation elements from industrial hemp.
Our products demonstrate circular material behavior and can be reused or recycled after their useful life.
They serve to substitute petroleum-based products.
Our first product line is dedicated to soundproofing for interior spaces at affordable prices.
The functional design, sustainable ingredients, material properties, and natural aesthetics make our products unique.
Both the production and the dismantling phase are characterized by low emissions.
By purchasing our products, customers support actively the transition to a circular economy and the reduction of CO2 emissions in the insulation industry next to sustainable regional development.
Our mission is to establish new biobased value chains and enable aspiring industrial symbioses.

Why your idea is a “winner"?:

We apply the re:conomy principles and consider the technical and biological cycle of our biocomposites. The product and its individual components can be separated for easier remanufacturing and reuse. Thus, we can reduce waste stemming from the insulation industry and contribute to the alleviation of pollution from energy-intensive and voluminous waste-generating industries.

What is your current or intended business/revenue model?:

Direct sales b2b, generating revenue

Do you have any Patent or IP registered (related to the solution that you are looking for an investment)?:

An IP strategy is pursued with the aim of protecting our innovations and products.
The Hempstatic brand is registered as of August 2021.

Has your technology already been implemented in any field/sector?:

We developed the very first sound absorber made from hemp-lime - a worldwide innovation from Austria.
Our focus is currently on the innovative application of noise protection. Accordingly, our formulations have highly effective absorbing functions and are optimized for use in this area.

Which market and customer need(s)/problem(s) is (are) your products(s)/service(s) going to solve?:

Noise protection measures are taken in residential and commercial buildings, new and old buildings, during the construction phase and afterward, in order to regulate sound transmission, sound propagation, and reverberation.
The construction sector is innovative- and risk-averse and implements innovations slowly and gradually.
The most common soundproofing elements are made from petroleum. These products are energy- and emissions-intensive to manufacture and are treated as hazardous waste at the end of their useful life, making them even more expensive due to ever-increasing disposal costs.
Therefore, a quick, sustainable solution is needed that is affordable, protects the private sphere, supports a healthy lifestyle, enables flexible living/working, and offers a circular end-of-life.
