About my Start-up

Blomso is transforming how global agriculture is financed by turning the ground itself into a predictive financial signal. Think of us as the Bloomberg Terminal for agriculture, a real-time intelligence layer that forecasts crop yields 3–6 months ahead of existing prediction/monitoring tech and USDA reports by analyzing the biological health of soil. Using proprietary near-infrared (NIR) soil sensing, geospatial analytics, machine learning, and climate modeling, we deliver over 90% accuracy in yield prediction, far surpassing satellite-based tools. Farmers simply mail in a small 1 gram soil sample; no hardware installations are required. The data is analyzed in-house using our AI engine, Tillie, and monetized upstream through hedge funds, insurers, lenders, and agribusinesses who rely on early field-level insights to drive alpha, underwrite climate risk, and optimize procurement. This top-down strategy lets capital markets redirect investment toward operations with regenerative potential, not just those with high input use or short-term output.

We call this system Bio-Capitalism: an emerging paradigm where living systems soil carbon, nutrient profiles, microbial health become core inputs in financial decision-making. Our platform enables lenders to tie interest rates to soil productivity, insurers to dynamically price crop risk, and traders to reposition assets based on early biophysical signals. With traction from the Ohio Department of Agriculture, partnership discussions with Louis Dreyfus, and support from NVIDIA Inception, Blomso is already proving valuable at institutional scale. We’re now raising a $1.8M seed round to scale our soil data infrastructure, expand our technical team, and launch full market access. At its core, Blomso exists to make biological truth investable and by doing so, build the financial infrastructure for a regenerative, resilient agricultural future.

Why your idea is a “winner"?:

Blomso is a category-defining winner because it tackles agriculture’s biggest blind spot, biological risk, by delivering 90%+ accurate yield forecasts months ahead of the market. Unlike any agtech before it, we go straight to the top of the ag-finance chain: hedge funds, traders, and insurers, turning soil into a premium data asset that moves capital. Backed by NVIDIA Inception and deployed with the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture, our IP-protected platform is both highly defensible and already field-proven. We're not just predicting yields, we’re building the intelligence layer for a circular, regenerative economy, where financial systems reward sustainability because it's more profitable. This is a true first: finance-led climate alignment, rooted in biology.

What is your current or intended business/revenue model?:

Blomso operates a multi-tiered revenue model centered on monetizing predictive soil intelligence across financial and agricultural sectors. Our primary business model focuses on data-as-a-service for hedge funds, commodity traders, and agribusinesses, who subscribe to our AI-driven yield forecasts and market intelligence. Hedge funds and trading desks pay up to $500K annually per license for early access to our predictive signals, which offer a 3–6 month lead time on USDA reports and have demonstrated 25–40% improvement in trading performance. Large agribusinesses pay $5M+ per year, depending on the depth of regional coverage, integration, and analytics packages provided.

For farmers, we offer free soil testing via mailed-in samples to build our dataset and establish biological baselines. Separately, we monetize farmer engagement through a paid subscription platform called Tillie.ai, an “automated agronomist” that delivers AI-generated crop and soil health recommendations based on each field’s unique biology.

Do you have any Patent or IP registered (related to the solution that you are looking for an investment)?:

Yes, Blomso has a patent-pending integrated hardware and software system that forms the foundation of our predictive soil intelligence platform. This intellectual property protects our proprietary method for real-time soil analysis and yield forecasting, combining near-infrared spectroscopy, electrical sensing, geolocation, and AI-driven modeling. The patent covers both the physical sensing technology, which can be embedded in agricultural equipment or used in conjunction with mailed-in soil samples and the software architecture that transforms raw soil data into financial-grade yield predictions. Our system includes innovations in sensor calibration, spectral preprocessing, and machine learning techniques specifically tailored to agricultural forecasting. It also protects the end-to-end data flow, from soil sampling through to dashboard-level predictive outputs for hedge funds and commodity traders. This IP is a critical moat, enabling us to deliver over 90% forecasting accuracy, well beyond the reach of traditional satellite models and ensuring that our core value proposition is defensible as we scale across financial markets.

Has your technology already been implemented in any field/sector?:

Yes, Blomso’s technology has already been implemented and validated through a field-scale pilot in partnership with the Ohio Department of Agriculture and NVIDIA Inception. This pilot spanned over 15,000 acres and was designed to test the predictive power of our soil-based AI forecasting engine in real-world conditions. Using mailed-in soil samples and our proprietary modeling stack, we generated regional yield forecasts that were then benchmarked against traditional methods. The results demonstrated a 25–40% improvement in trading strategy performance when using Blomso’s early biological signals compared to conventional USDA data and satellite-derived forecasts. This pilot not only proved the accuracy and scalability of our system but also showcased its value to financial stakeholders, laying the groundwork for broader adoption across commodity trading and risk management markets.

Which market and customer need(s)/problem(s) is (are) your products(s)/service(s) going to solve?:

Blomso is solving a critical blind spot for hedge funds and commodity traders: the lack of real-time, field-level biological intelligence to forecast agricultural yields and price risk accurately. In a $1.76 trillion global ag commodity market, trading desks continue to rely on delayed USDA reports and satellite data that offer limited predictive power often capping out at 55% accuracy and missing the underlying biological signals that drive yield. Blomso changes this by delivering yield forecasts 3–6 months ahead of USDA timelines with over 90% accuracy, using proprietary NIR soil sensing, AI modeling, and climate integration. Traders and hedge funds gain access to early, ground-truth signals turning soil into a forward-looking financial indicator that improves both alpha generation and downside protection. The theoretical gains are substantial: backtests and early use cases show a 25–40% improvement in return on trading strategies when positioning ahead of supply shocks tied to nutrient depletion, drought sensitivity, or shifting soil profiles. By integrating Blomso’s data into their models, funds can rebalance portfolios, front-run price movements, and capture volatility premiums with greater precision. This intelligence also enables more accurate hedging against regional weather risk or geopolitical exposure in ag-heavy economies. As our go-to-market centers on institutional finance, Blomso is not just enhancing commodity trading outcomes, it's creating a new asset class of biologically rooted financial signals, unlocking multi-billion dollar alpha opportunities that were previously invisible.

Kalib Riddle CEO

Kalib Riddle, Founder and CEO of Blomso, brings a unique blend of agricultural expertise, systems thinking, and entrepreneurial execution to the company’s mission. He studied Environmental Science with a focus on soil health and regenerative systems, developing an early understanding of the biological foundations of agricultural productivity. Prior to founding Blomso, Kalib spent years working directly with farmers, agronomists, and state-level ag departments, gaining first hand insight into the limitations of existing data infrastructure in agriculture. His early exposure to the disconnect between biology and capital allocation inspired Blomso’s founding thesis: to build the financial infrastructure that aligns market outcomes with soil health.

Kalib is also a graduate of Techstars, where he refined Blomso’s go-to-market and positioned it as a disruptive ag-fintech intelligence platform. His leadership has driven the company through its transition from a soil testing concept to a patent-backed, AI-powered data layer now serving institutional markets. He has spearheaded Blomso’s partnerships with the Ohio Department of Agriculture and NVIDIA Inception, as well as early traction with financial institutions. With deep conviction in systems-level change, Kalib is not only building a company, he’s pioneering a new paradigm of Bio-Capitalism, where living systems drive financial value.
