About my Start-up
At Rebound we develop and produce regenerative acoustic panels to replace traditional linear solutions on global scale.
We restore balance in the construction industry by developing and scaling a new production technology that enables better resource utilization and the delivery of competitive regenerative products. We offer acoustic interior solutions and acoustic ceilings that match traditional materials in both performance and price, while also storing CO₂ and being circular. The products are biodegradable and made from renewable surplus bio-resources such as straw, hemp, and grass stems from agriculture. The more we sell, the more CO₂ is stored, the less waste is produced, and the fewer raw materials are depleted.
The construction industry’s stakeholders face challenges in meeting the increasing requirements and demand for climate-friendly and circular solutions. Solutions such as bio-based acoustic ceilings that are approved and competitive are not readily available. At the same time, traditional solutions offer limited design freedom and aesthetic quality.
Rebound develops regenerative and aesthetic acoustic panels for the construction and interior industries, based on mycelium and surplus agricultural biomass such as straw, hemp, and grass stems. We produce CO₂-storing, biodegradable, and circular materials that, with price and performance parity, can replace traditional materials such as mineral wool and wood wool cement boards, while offering extensive design variation and aesthetic value.
We have developed a platform technology that combines low-energy fermentation, the use of residual biomass, and simple production processes with innovative and certified building products. The production capacity can be scaled rapidly, and sales and demand are facilitated by the country’s largest distributors of building materials.
Why your idea is a “winner"?:
Our mission is to restore balance in the building industry by developing and delivering better biomaterials. We are a interdisciplinary and innovative team with a momentum to beachhead a transformation of a stagnant industry. We are partnering with leading designers and scientists to transform danish design and biotechnological expertise to, as the first, transform mycelium technology into new mainstream of fermnted materials of high performance and newly adopted aesthetics. We are already embraced by leading architectural firms such as BIG Architects and Henning Larsen Architects. Early practical focus on scaling, now proved in our pilot facility, ensures low costs for a competitive industry. We are backed by 1,7 MEUR in funding and LOIs by large off takers and local straw supply. We are the danish climate entrepreneur or the year 2025.
What is your current or intended business/revenue model?:
With low energy consumption and the use of local biomass, our own production facility manufactures acoustic panels for distribution via B2C to contractors and building owners, as well as B2B sales to resellers. The more we sell, the more CO₂ is stored and resources are reused.
Through a non-disruptive business model, we sell B2C today to beachhead clients, and from 2026 onward we will sell B2B through major resellers (Forzes, Stark, etc.). The buyers are building clients and contractors who are influenced by architects and designers.
Do you have any Patent or IP registered (related to the solution that you are looking for an investment)?:
We have 1 patent, A METHOD OF PRODUCING A COMPOSITE MATERIAL (pending): PCT/EP2024/086028, and 1 patent pending MYCELIUM-BASED COMPOSITE (MBC) DOOR OR MBC PANEL WITH SUPPORT STRUCTURE): PA 2025 30595. We are planning 1-2 more patents including one on fire retardancy and 1 on a low cost production method.
Our secret sauce strategy is to combine two measures
1)Trade secrets on know-how within production knowledge – scaling at high product quality with low costs
2)Patents on our unique methods and products that differentiates performance against regulation and marked access.
Has your technology already been implemented in any field/sector?:
Today, we sell acoustic interior products to architects and building owners. From 2026, the customer segment will expand significantly when our acoustic ceilings are certified and distributed through partners such as Forzes, which supplies 20% of the ceiling market in Denmark, as well as Havnens Hænder. The primary future customers are large contractors, design and architecture firms, material distributors, and sustainability-oriented companies that demand documented, circular materials.
Which market and customer need(s)/problem(s) is (are) your products(s)/service(s) going to solve?:
Carbon storing, circular, cascade use of bioressources, performance and price comparative (fire-rated B,s1,d0, sound class B), with natural colors and patterns. Designed for easy handling and repair and high value aesthetic and innovative narrative we offer a unique global scalable solution to transform the building industry from linear to regenerative.
